Woman killed, man hurt in wreck

A woman died and a man was injured in a car accident Thursday morning in Lawrence County.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded around 11:45 to Highway 84 near Fire Tower Road, east of Monticello.

MHP spokesman Trooper 1st Class Brandon Fortenberry identified the victim as 59-year-old Mary L. Cooper of Silver Creek.

McComb police arrested three teenagers suspected of committing a string of recent auto burglaries.

Officers responded to a report of an auto burglary in progress at about 3:05 a.m. Wednesday at Magnolia Pointe Apartments on Parklane Road.
