SMCC wins finale 3-1 to split DH with Gulf Coast

The Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears picked up their first MACJC South Division win Saturday with a 3-1 win over visiting Mississippi Gulf Coast in the finale of their Saturday doubleheader.

Gulf Coast took a 3-2 win in the opening game of the doubleheader.

The Southwest Mississippi Community Bears dropped a pair of games in Baton Rouge on Sunday afternoon as St. Louis Community College won 8-4 and Baton Rouge Community College won 4-0 in a scheduled nine-inning game.

SMCC opens MACJC South Division play Wednesday at Hinds Community College in a 1 p.m. twinbill.
