Hate crime ordinance tabled

The hate crime ordinance proposed by McComb selectman Donovan Hill has been tabled until officials can determine the future costs that would be required to enforce it.

Officials could take it up again as soon as next week’s board meeting.

McComb votes to remove state flag in board room

In a divided vote Tuesday, McComb’s city board decided to take down the Mississippi state flag from the board meeting room in city hall, although it will still fly outside.

Selectman Ronnie Brock made an impromptu motion at the end of the meeting to remove the flag from the board room.

Firm says city shortchanged

The insurer for the City of McComb says the city should have received $154,000 to fix roofs on city-owned buildings following a 2013 hail storm.

But consultants hired by the city say the initial offer from EMC Insurance Properties would not have covered the cost of replacing even one roof.
