Kentwood notches district win over Varnado

VARNADO — The Kentwood Kangaroos rolled to a 42-24 District 6 1-A win over the Varnado Wildcats Friday night.

Kentwood improved to 4-2 overall, while Varnado remains winless this season.

No. 1 Bogue Chitto tops Lumberton, 17-12, to stay undefeated

LUMBERTON — Undefeated Bogue Chitto, ranked No. 1 in Class 1A, kept its winning streak intact Friday as the Bobcats edged Lumberton 17-12 in Region 4-1A action despite committing six turnovers.

Bogue Chitto improved to 7-0 overall, 3-0 in district play. Lumberton dropped to 4-3 overall, 2-4.

Centreville Academy races past Bowling Green, 36-18

The Centreville Academy Tigers, who sit atop the MAIS District 6 AA standings, ran to a 36-18 win over Bowling Green on Friday.

The Tigers are 6-1 overall and 3-0 in District 6.

Centreville quarterback Casey Haygood got off to a sluggish start missing his first nine passes, completing only 2-of-14 attempts in the first half.

Wildcats roll to 47-22 win over Pirates in region play

MOUNT OLIVE — The Mount Olive Pirates were no match for Salem’s Wildcats on Friday in a Region 4-1A contest.

Salem rolled to a 47-22 win to improve to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in Region play.
