City officials face a dilemma in how to make the McComb Sports Park more accessible to the public and more secure in the wake of multiple burglaries.

Albert Eubanks of McComb told the city board at Tuesday’s meeting that elderly residents and children have nowhere to play or exercise in east McComb.

Kentwood police face state probe

The police department in Kentwood, La., is under two separate investigations for allegations of theft and missing evidence.

The department first ran into trouble when police Lt. Roger W. Carter went before the town council and made allegations of misconduct and theft by officers, the Kentwood News Ledger reported.

Flu cases circulating heavily in area

As predicted, the flu has hit early this year — and with a vengeance.

“We didn’t really expect it to hit so early,” said Tammy Bacot, infection preventionist at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. “I don’t know if it will start to go away earlier or if we haven’t seen our peak yet.”
