Centreville falls short in AA championship

CLINTON — The Centreville Tigers couldn’t seem to hold onto the football; the Simpson Cougars hardly ever let it go.

Centreville committed three costly turnovers while Simpson ran the ball 49 times for 250 yards, and the Cougars defeated the Tigers 20-7 Friday afternoon in the MAIS AA championship game.

The South Pike Eagles lost their first game of the season Tuesday night, falling to Brookhaven at home 70-65.

South Pike trailed by 11 points after the first quarter and despite playing a competitive final three quarters was unable to climb out of the early hole it dug itself.
