TYLERTOWN — In most powerhouse high school football programs, replacing a coach like Walter Denton would be a tall task in itself.

Denton — who coached at Tylertown for 21 years, compiled a 182-109-2 career record and won the 2009 Class 3A State Championship — left the school in January to accept the same position at Columbia.

Parklane wins pair, sweeps East Rankin

Parklane baseball coach Michael Clements got all he could ask for Thursday as his team took a doubleheader from East Rankin to complete a three-game sweep to open district play.

The Pioneers won both games, 11-1, in five innings, to improve to 5-4 (3-0) heading into Spring Break.
