CENTREVILLE — The Centreville Tigers’ season came to an end on Friday as Trinity Saints handed the homestanding Tigers a 39-19 loss.
Centreville ended the season at 10-3, while Trinity (11-2) faces Simpson Academy for the South AA championship Friday.
Centreville had 361 yards of total offense. Trinity ended the night with 372.
Behind quarterback Scott Turner, Trinity led 26-0.
On the game’s first play from scrimmage, Turner connected with Tip McKinzie on a 74-yard pass.
After an interception, Turner hit Tanner Cage for a 25-yard score.
The Saints scored again on a 37-yard pass from Turner to Jaje Winston. The Saints led 19-0 and the end of the first quarter.
Trinity extended its lead 26-0 on a pass from Turner to McKenzie.
In the second quarter, CA scored on a Cliff Hurst 3-yard run. The PAT by Randy Bell was good.
Trinity led 26-7 at halftime, but CA cut into the lead to get to within 33-19 in the second half.
CA’s final two scores came on a 38-yard pass to Colby Shaw from Hurst, and Terrell scored from 5 yards out. The PATs failed.
Hurst led CA rushers with 16 carries for 72 yards.
Defensively, Towles had seven tackles. Hurst and B.J. Havard each had five tackles for Centreville.
