BROOKHAVEN — McComb’s Lady Tigers slow pitch team split games Saturday in the West Lincoln tournament.
McComb was slated to play three games, but inclement weather did not allow the third game.
In the opener, Bogue Chitto beat MHS 5-4 in eight innings. MHS bounced back to nip West Lincoln, 7-6.
Against Bogue Chitto, MHS pitcher Leyton Terrell allowed 15 hits.
Offensively, Kaylin Coney singled. Bethany Davis and Destini Brown singled twice for MHS. Bre’Ann Talbert doubled and Reneka Felder singled and homered. Terrell singled.
Bogue Chitto led McComb 4-0 through three innings. McComb scored one in the third to cut it to 4-1.
Felder blasted a three-run homer in the fifth to tie the game at 4-4.
In the top of the seventh, McComb had two outs when Talbert doubled but was left stranded at second base.
Bogue Chitto put together some timely hits and scored one in the eighth to win.
“We got down early, but really battled back and had a chance to win,” said McComb coach Cody Hall. “We went into extra innings and just came up a little short. I am extremely proud of the way the girls played good defense and hit the ball.”
In the second game, McComb had nine hits.
Offensively, Terrell, Coney, Brown, Katie Kalusche and Davis all singled for McComb. Felder singled twice and Talbert singled and doubled.
McComb jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first. West Lincoln scored three runs in the third to lead 3-2.
McComb scored a run in the third to tie it at 3-3.
West Lincoln’s Hanna Moak hit a three-run homer for a 6-3 lead.
West Lincoln walked in three to tie the score at 6-6. Felder had an RBI single for a 7-6 lead.
MHS (4-3) begins district play on Tuesday hosting West Jones in a varsity doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. at Sammy Clark Field in McComb.
