MOSS POINT — The McComb Tiger slow pitch softball team was eliminated Saturday from the second round of the 5A playoffs by Moss Point. The Tigers were swept in losing 6-4 and 12-1.
McComb coach Cody Hall said he is proud of his team’s effort this season.
“Even though we finished 19-13, it was still a successful season for us,” said Hall. “It’s as good a season as we have had in a while. The girls worked extremely hard all season, and I am proud of their effort.”
Reneka Felder and Kamry Creel shared pitching duties in both contests.
In the opener, Felder pitched five innings and Creel pitched the final two innings.
Felder fanned one Moss Point hitter, walked two and gave up four hits. Creel walked two hitters and gave up two hits.
In Game 1, Felder, Creel, Kaitlyn Coney, Paige Brock and Bre’Ann Talbert all singled. Katie Kalusche singled and doubled.
Creel started game two and walked two and gave up three hits. Felder closed the game, giving up four walks, seven runs. She fanned four.
Creel, Ariel Johnson, Kalusche and Talbert all singled, while Felder singled twice and tripled.
“We had a good season,” Hall said. “Fast pitch starts in February, so will get to work on fast pitch season soon.”
