Former Major League outfielder and Copiah-Lincoln Community College baseball star Nook Logan recently announced he will host his summer baseball camp at the McComb Sports Park July 25-28 for ballplayers of all ages.
The camp will be split into two sessions each day — a morning session from 9 until noon for kids 12-and-under, and an afternoon session from 2-5 for players 13 or older.
The camp aims to teach players the fundamentals of baseball, including fielding, throwing, hitting, bunting, pitching, catching, base-running and on-field communication.
But Logan’s approach is also very cerebral. According for the former Washington National and Detroit Tiger, his camp aims to provide players with knowledge and insight on the game so players can “think the game” while on the field.
“Baseball is a game of thinking, reacting and repeating fundamentals one pitch at a time,” Logan said.
The camp fee is $200 per player. Pre-registration will be held at Southern Sports through July 24. Walk-ups can register one hour before the camp opens, but there is an additional $25 fee for registering on-site.
Logan also will be at Southern Sports for an autograph signing session on July 8 from 1-5 p.m.
Logan played in 321 Major League games for the Nationals and Tigers from 2004-2007, and ended his career with 233 hits and a .268 average. He starred at Co-Lin from 1998-2000.
