VICKSBURG — The Bogue Chitto Bobcats scored three touchdowns on the ground and three more through the air Friday night in a 39-21 Region 4-1A victory over St. Aloysius.
Bogue Chitto scored on a 1-yard touchdown run by Brandon Wells. The Bobcats then scored twice in the second quarter on a 23-yard run and a 2-yard touchdown run by Brock Roberts. Bogue Chitto led 20-7 at halftime.
With 7:00 left in the third quarter, Wells connected with Dennis Rogers for a 4-yard touchdown pass.
With two minutes left in the third, Bogue Chitto scored on a 32-yard touchdown pass from Roberts to Germie Martin.
The Flashes (1-9, 1-7) then took the kickoff and marched down the field to score.
“We played pretty well on defense,” said Bogue Chitto coach Garreth Sartin. “On special teams, we allowed two good runbacks that set them up on a short field and they took advantage of that. We have got to do a better job on kick off coverage.”
Bogue Chitto’s final score was a 9-yard pass from Roberts to Martin.
Wells finished the game with 175 yards rushing. Germaine Blackwell led the Bobcat defense with 13 tackles,
Bogue Chitto (8-2, 6-2 region) hosts district foe Dexter (6-4, 6-2) on Friday for the final regular season game.
Dexter ripped visiting Mount Olive, the defending state champions, 40-0 in District 4-1A play.
Dexter improved to 6-4 overall and 6-2 in district play.
