South Pike rising sophomore running back Douglas Wansley was included in the Clarion-Ledger's offseason poll to determine who the top returning tailback in Mississippi is for this fall.
As just a true freshman in 2024, Wansley racked up a whopping 1,508 rushing yards, 156 carries (9.7 YPC) and 14 touchdowns while helping guide the Eagles to a 9-2 overall record.
Also featured in the voting are Leake Academy's Garrett Adcock, Rosa Fort's Christian Alexander, Terry's Ronda Baker, Water Valley's Zae Bradford, Stringer's Jaheim Campbell, Gulfport's Cooper Crosby, Charleston's Marcus Flowers Jr., Magee's Bareden Gregory, Tupelo's Jaeden Hill, Winona Christian's Will Irwin, Pascagoula's Amarie Jackson, louisville's Zaien Jernigan, Loyd Star's Jodryn Kees, Poplarville's Ty Keys, West Lauderdale's Travion Mosely, Jackson Prep's Thomas Hewitt Oswalt, Desoto Central's Eric Perry, Pisgah's Ethan Prater, Brandon's Tyson Robinson, West Harrison's Jordan Stapleton, West Point's Quentin Thompson, Ocean Springs' Sharroid Whitehead and Kemper County's Damarius Yates.
