A Mississippi running group called 'Team Barnabas' earned first place overall at the Watermelon Classic 5k on July 4.
The race, which was held at the Mississippi Sports Hall Of Fame, is the largest 5k in the state with over 1,600 participants from three different states.
Team Barnabas earned first place honors for the fourth time in six years, and the group includes runners from all over the state with plenty hailing from Southwest Mississippi.
The team was created 12 years ago and includes runners Joya Phillips, Brooke-Ellen Wallace, Jonah Barnhart, Will Porter, Gauge Montgomery, Cody Wallace, Carl Bryant, Nathan Draut, Vince Woodcock, Duanne Poole, Harold Poole, Christy Barber, Chase Spring, Donovan Hurst, Anne Marie Obilade, Sewindia Scott, Gary Heim and Allan Carter.
