A McComb man died in a single-vehicle crash near the Mississippi State Line on Interstate 55 in Tangipahoa Parish, La., on Sunday, and a Walthall County man died in a motorcycle accident Saturday just a few miles south of Jayess.
Louisiana State Police responded to the Sunday wreck on northbound I-55 around 7:40 p.m.
The Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Bobby E. Ross, 59, 524 25th St., McComb, dead on the scene after his 1994 Mercedes 320, reportedly traveling at a high-rate of speed, drifted left, entered the median and flipped several times, coming to rest on its roof in a water-filled creek.
Ross was not wearing a seat belt. Officials collected a blood sample for toxicology analysis, Louisiana State Police spokesman Greg Marchand said. The results of the toxicology analysis are pending.
In the Saturday accident, authorities responded to the scene of the wreck around 9:05 p.m., just north of the intersection of Jayess and Enon-Sartinville Roads.
Walthall County Coroner Shannon Hartzog pronounced James E. Baptiste dead on the scene after his motorcycle collided with a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban.
Neither the driver of the Suburban, Travis Quinn, nor his female passenger, Breneka Youngblood was injured.
Quinn, also of Jayess, consented to a blood test and was cited for driving without a license and no proof of insurance.
Baptiste’s body was sent the State Crime Lab in Jackson for an autopsy and toxicology test.
Results of Quinn’s blood test are also pending analysis by the crime lab.
