McComb police are investigating a rash of auto burglaries reported Sunday afternoon and early this morning — most of them in broad daylight — that all seem to share similarities.
Detective Josh Brown said officers responded to five auto burglaries.
He said it is unclear whether all the burglaries are connected, but he noted that in each incident, the burglar gained entry by breaking a window and stole a wallet or a purse. Furthermore, four of the five incidents reportedly occurred on the same street within about a five-hour window.
The first occurred about 12:58 p.m. Sunday at Anytime Fitness, 417 Apache Drive. Desarie Roberts told officers that someone broke a window on her 2011 Dodge Durango and stole a purse with contents.
The next two incidents both occurred about 1:12 p.m. Sunday at Applebee’s, 417 Apache Drive. Amanda Murray told officers that someone broke a window on her 2004 Toyota sedan and stole a wallet with contents. Kelby Hardy told officers that someone broke a window on her 1999 Toyota Camry and stole a purse with contents.
The fourth incident also occurred at Applebee’s but was reported around 4:30 p.m. Jasmine Lacking told officers that someone broke a window on her 2003 Toyota Camry and stole a wallet with contents.
The last incident occurred at the Upper Deck Sports Bar, 505 S. Railroad Blvd., around 2 this morning. Pamela Nicholson told officers that someone broke a window on her 2008 Kia and stole a wallet with contents.
