CLINTON, La. — A McComb man died in a head-on collision with a garbage truck Wednesday in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana.
Louisiana State Police responded to the wreck around 6 a.m. on Highway 67 near Highway 959 just south of Clinton. The wreck claimed the life of 23-year-old Cody M. Temple, LSP spokesman Jared Sandifer said.
Temple was southbound when his 2001 Kia Sephia crossed the center line into the oncoming lane of traffic and collided with the garbage truck.
Temple was not wearing a seat belt, and it’s unknown why his vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, Sandifer said.
Authorities took a toxicology sample and sent it to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Those results are pending.
The garbage truck driver, Richard Wright, 39, of Wilson, Louisiana, reportedly sustained minor injuries and went by ambulance to Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary for treatment.
Wright was wearing a seat belt, and authorities do not suspect impairment on his part, Sandifer said.
Temple graduated from Tylertown High School in 2006 and was living in McComb at the time of the accident.
