A McComb man whose body was found at Percy Quin State Park Monday morning apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Pike County Sheriff Mark Shepherd said a family member found the body of 44-year-old Arthur Lynn Casey Jr., 1031 Dunaway Road, McComb, near the marina at the park.
Coroner Percy Pittman, who pronounced Mr. Casey dead at the scene at 11:25 a.m., said it appeared he died of a single gunshot wound to the chest. Authorities recovered a 9mm pistol at the scene.
Shepherd said Mr. Casey’s family began looking for him when he didn’t show up for work on Monday. They went to Percy Quin because he enjoyed spending time there.
“All indications are that he just drove there,” Shepherd said, adding that his car was parked nearby.
Mr. Casey’s body has been sent to Jackson for an autopsy, Pittman said.
