BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven police officers have charged a 33-year-old man in connection with a weekend shooting death at a trailer park.
Officers arrested Don Bolds, 817 Saints Trail, on Monday morning on a murder charge.
He is being held in the Lincoln County jail. No bond had been set as of Tuesday morning.
Brookhaven Chief of Police Bobby Bell said Bolds shot and killed 18-year-old Trevor Williams of 2746 Bluebird Lane in Lincoln County.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. Sunday at a trailer park located at 401 Industrial Park Road NE.
“There was an altercation between some kids earlier in the day that resulted to this,” Bell said Tuesday morning. “It was just a carry-on.”
Bell would not elaborate on the details leading up to the shooting but said there were many witnesses on the scene.
Williams was reportedly shot once in the upper chest and was still alive when authorities arrived on scene.
Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris said Williams was transported by ambulance to King’s Daughter Medical Center, where he died in the emergency room at 9:19 p.m. Sunday.
Bell said several shots were fired from a handgun, but only one bullet apparently struck Williams. He would not say what type of firearm was used.
McMorris said further details will be released when the victim’s body is returned from an autopsy at the state medical examiner’s office in Jackson.
