Broma’s Deli is a perfect place to take a break from shopping and sit down for a nice meal.
The business has been at Edgewood Mall in McComb for nearly 10 years and is still going strong, co-owner Donnie Mitchell said. Keith White is also co-owner.
The business’ colorful chalkboard menu, which is a hit with kids, lists everything from cold sandwiches to loaded baked potatoes. Each item is served with a side item such as their signature potato chips — Broma Chips — fruit or salad.
“One of the things we are noted for is the Broma Chip,” Mitchell said. “We even see it advertised other places as the Broma Chip.”
Broma’s Deli is located at the mall’s main entrance, so shoppers don’t have to stray too far from the deals to grab a bite to eat.
Mitchell said he expanded his business from Brookhaven into McComb after seeing heavy success with the first store, and when mall officials came to him with the location, he knew it would be a hit. The restaurant in Brookhaven is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
“We had opened up (in) Brookhaven the year before and we had good success,” he said. “(McComb) was our second store and it has been real successful for us.”
Broma’s received a four-star rating out of five by customers on popular rating sites such as Yelp and Urbanspoon.
And Broma’s boasts the best sweet tea in Mississippi, according to Mississippi Magazine.
The deli has become a tradition for many in McComb.
“It is like a family,”general manager Kayla Bryan said. “We have some everyday customers.”
Mitchell plans to remodel his McComb store for its 10th anniversary by changing some items on the menu and redecorating the store — something the Brookhaven restaurant is doing this year.
With its popular signature sandwiches, the deli makes fueling up for a marathon shopping spree a delicious treat.
Most offerings on the menu have a local connection, particularly to Broma’s Brookhaven roots.
For instance, shoppers can grab a Whitworth Club, named after the former Brookhaven-based Whitworth College, which is now home to the Mississippi School of the Arts.
There also are weekly specials that hungry crowds can enjoy.
Broma’s also can be a place to buy a gift for that deli lover in the family.
“We have reloadable gift cards,” general manager Leann Stump said.
The gift cards make easy stocking stuffers for those who like to venture out for lunch or dinner.
The cards are a new addition this year and are a popular gift idea, Stump said.
The deli sees some 300 hungry customers a day.
For new customers, Bryan recommends the always-popular signature sandwiches.
