The Mississippi Queens, a newly founded professional women's basketball team, are set to become the first of their kind in the state when they open their inaugural season this Saturday.
The Queens will travel to face the Louisiana Spice at 6 p.m. on Saturday, and the Spice will make the return trip at the same time the following week.
The team will play its home bouts at Tougaloo College in Jackson, and its regular-season schedule features 10 games.
From there, Mississippi's women's basketball team plays the Atlanta Angels, Augusta Hurricanes and Midwest Sounds in home-and-home matchups. The Queens will also take on the Spice twice more during the season, which concludes Aug. 31.
Myneka Frazier will serve as Pike County's representation on the newfound squad.
