A man was killed after being struck by a passenger train in McComb on Tuesday.
Police said the man, who has not yet been identified, was crossing the tracks when he was hit by the southbound Amtrak a little after noon.
Lt. Tony Varaksa said the victim had apparently been fishing in IC Lake just off the railroad easement. He was reportedly crossing the tracks when the train struck him.
The victim's next of kin has not been notified, Varaksa said.
A wrecker arrived on the scene around 2 p.m. to tow away the victim's car, a compact gray sedan.
