Mississippians who qualify for a booster shot of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine can obtain one at county health department offices.
Appointments can be made through https:// covidvaccine.umc.edu or by calling the COVID-19 hotline at (877) 978-6453.
State health officials said booster shots can increase immunity, which may decrease over time.
Residents who qualify are:
• Fully vaccinated with two shots of Pfizer.
• Have gone at least six months since their last dose.
• Are 65 years or older.
• Area resident of a long-term care facility.
• Are at least 18 and have a qualifying underlying health condition.
• Are at least 18 and have an occupation that increase their risk of exposure, including working in health care settings, jails and schools.
A third shot of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for people with weakened immune systems are also available at county health departments.
First and second shots of COVID-19 vaccines are available at county health departments and at private pharmacies and medical clinics.
Anyone seeking a booster shot must bring their COVID-19 vaccine card to their appointment.
