Bigner’s Combat Academy of McComb had two fighters compete in the Prime Fighting Promotion event on Saturday at Seige MMA training center and Sports Complex in Hattiesburg, and both 15-year-old Channan "Brick" Lamkin and 17-year-old Dane "Dangerous" Martin secured impressive wins.
The former earned "Fight of the Night" honors for his unanimous boxing victory while the latter finished his opponent within a minute of his MMA bout. A solid knee from Martin set the tone before a body slam and choke submission ended the fight.
It was a huge sweep for the hometown boys from McComb, and the local school was publicly recognized because of the performance from both young men.
A McComb native, Lamkin has been with Bigner's JKD Combat Academy for under a year and plans to shift his focus to MMA once he hits sanctioning age.
Meanwhile, Martin hails from Meadville, holds a 1-1 MMA record and similarly started with the gym less than a year ago.
Reynold “Sonny” Bigner, the founder of Bigner's Combat Academy, explained that multiple other promotions--including Prime itself--have already reached out in hopes of featuring the fighters again.
The results figure to go a long way in helping the local gym gets its name out there, and both fighters will resume training this week as they turn their attention towards future fights.
