Porter easily fends off Brown for re-election

State Rep. Daryl Porter’s biggest struggle on Tuesday may have been trying to tune a radio to hear election results.
Porter swamped challenger Lance Darnel Brown 2,639 to 472 in unofficial totals from House District 98’s precincts in Pike and Walthall counties, a margin of almost 85% to 15%.

Pike nominees gear up for November

Tuesday’s primary results came as a bittersweet win for Brenda Robinson, who won against Johnny Scott in the Democratic primary for circuit clerk.
Robinson led with 2,136 (54%) votes to Scott’s 1,787 (46%). The nominee will face Republican Natalie McMahon.
