A truck with multiple chemicals began leaking, causing road closures in Liberty on Friday afternoon.
Amite County Civil Defense Director J.D. Paulk said a call regarding a chemical spill came in at 12:15 p.m., closing Roberts Road and Highway 24for a short period.
Paulk said more closures that include 24 Highway being closed again could happen.
“There are six different types of chemicals on the truck, but we are unsure of which chemical is leaking,” he said.
E3 Environmental based in Clinton, Mississippi, was en route to the incident scene at approximately 4:15 p.m. Friday afternoon, Paulk said.
“We are going to let them get on site and they will tell us how long it will take to get the situation mitigated. We are likely to be here for a couple more hours, though,” added Paulk.
