A woman died in a house fire in McComb on Tuesday morning, and another woman was rescued from the blaze.
The fire was reported a little after 9 a.m. on the corner of Louisiana Avenue and Third Street.
Police officials said an officer responding to the scene noticed one of the residents sitting on a porch and a wheelchair and brought her to safety.
The other resident of the house was trapped inside and had to be brought out by firefighters, who along with paramedics administered CPR on the front lawn before putting her in an ambulance, where further efforts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful.
The cause of the fire was not immediately determined.
It was confined to the rear of the house and contained within less than an hour.
The identities of the residents weren’t immediately released.
