An Amite County woman died in a three-vehicle accident that caused at least one other person to be airlifted to a hospital, Pike County Coroner Wally Jones said
Mary Barrett, 81, of Liberty, died on impact at the intersection of highways 24 and 48 at 1:41 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Jones said.
Barrett was eastbound in a 2013 Chevrolet Impala and was apparently hit head-on by a westbound 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 67-year-old John Robinett of McComb.
The impact spun her car around in the roadway facing south, and a 3/4-ton Dodge Ram pickup behind her, driven by 41-year-old Justin McDuff of Lumberton, and hauling a gooseneck trailer, hit the passenger side of her car, Jones said.
Barrett was wearing a seatbelt.
Jones said Robinett had to be airlifted from the scene, and McDuff sustained no injuries.
