A woman and her child escaped a house fire in East McComb mid-day Monday.
Tarsha Patrick said she had just put her baby down for a nap when she smelled and saw smoke at her house in North Locust Street.
Patrick said she quickly discovered a fire had broken out near her baby's room and she grabbed the child and fled the house as flames began to consume it.
Firefighters responded at 12:44 p.m. and battled the fire, which appeared to be more severe at the back of the house.
The dwelling appeared to be a total loss.
no injuries were reported in the fire, the cause of which remained undetermined Monday afternoon
