Pike County’s Safe Room on Quinlivan Road will open at 8 tonight as the area will see the potential for severe weather and possible tornadoes.
“Our area is looking at weather between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m,” Civil Defense Director Tina Reed said. “The main threat is hail and damaging wind. We could see winds up to 60-70 mph. A tornado can't be ruled out either.”
The Safe Room at 2017 Quinlivan Road, Magnolia, will remain open until the weather threat passes, potentially around 3 or 4 a.m.
Anyone taking refuge there should bring comfort items such as drinks, snacks, pillows, blankets and medication. Tables and chairs will be available.
