The Junior Auxiliary of McComb will host its 60th annual Azalea Ball at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Oak Hill Estate.
During the festivities, the 2022 queen and king, the late Bob Hemeter and Judi Passman, will be honored and the new royal couple for 2023 will be presented.
The ball is the sole fundraiser for the McComb JA and its many service projects.
The McComb chapter of JA, a service organization, was started in 1938 by local women who wanted to assist children in their growth, health and education.
The chapter was chartered in 1941 and is part of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries. The local JA has 38 active members, 13 associate members and 242 life members. The provisional class includes eight women.
This year, local Junior Auxiliary service projects include Hug bags, local and national scholarships, Pop Up Projects such as Stuff the Pantry and Stuff the Sleigh, Crown Club, Birthday Blessings, Kind Kidz and Camp Sunshine, a summer camp for mentally and physically challenged adults and children held annually at Percy Quin State Park.
This year’s Azalea Ball theme, “A Night at the Gatsby,” will celebrate past and present JA projects and involvement in the community.
