Van Gogh’s “Three Flowers in a Vase” and “Six Sunflowers,” Monet’s “Waterlilies” and “Woman with a Parasol,” Cezanne’s “Forest Path” and self portraits by Picasso and Rembrandt are hanging in the McComb Public Library’s art gallery through March. Well, sort of.
The works on display are recreations of the masterpieces by Smithdale art instructor Dianne Burris and her students, who are presenting their own adaptations with keen likenesses to the real thing.
Student artists mimicking the masters include Brenda Tyson, Ed Zumbro, Trent Coleman, Jo Ann Fazio, Cappie Monroe, Ginny Randall, Karen Robertson, Sue Sims and others.
The work also includes a class effort to recreate Oksana Johnson’s “Magnolias,” with the student’s initials painted on the bottom left corner of the piece.
