The Mississippi Department of Education released letter grades for schools and school districts on Thursday as part of the state's public school accountability model, with nearly all local school districts receiving a B.
McComb, North Pike, South Pike, Amite County, Walthall County, Franklin County and Lawrence County school districts all received a B, while Lincoln County received an A.
The grades reflect marked improvement for most of the districts, with McComb, South Pike, Walthall County, Franklin County, Lincoln County and Lawrence County all moving up a letter grade and North Pike remaining a B.
Amite County, which has languished with an F for years, showed the biggest improvement, moving to a B.
