McComb and Amite County schools fell a letter grade to a C, while North Pike improved to an A rating and South Pike and Walthall County saw no change to keep their B ratings, according to school accountability results released Tuesday.
The Mississippi Department of Education’s school letter grades are based on test scores, graduation rates and career and college readiness, among other factors.
State education officials said 85.7% of schools and 93.9% of districts earned a grade of C or higher.
North Pike and Lincoln County were the only area school districts to receive A letter grades.
Brookhaven and Franklin County School Districts both received C’s, and Lawrence County received a B.
Wilkinson County was the only Southwest Mississippi school District to receive an F. Its score was the lowest in the state.
The letter grades reflect schools’ performance in the 2023-24 school year.
