The Parklane girls basketball team kicked off district action with a hard-fought 61-56 road win over Brookhaven Academy on Friday.
The Lady Pioneers were led by a dominant performance from junior Zoe Alford, as she accounted for 25 points on 8-for-14 shooting to go along with three assists.
Freshman Carlye Carruth followed her up with 15 points, seven rebounds, three steals and three blocks in a truly all-around effort.
Fellow freshman Lay Jackson rounded out the top scorers with 11 points to go along with a team-high four assists.
Junior Anna Sawyer led the team with eight rebounds.
