Brad Bellipanni and Wally Jones are headed to a runoff for the Republican nomination for Pike County sheriff.
With 25 of 25 precincts reporting, Jones has 1,897 (43%) votes to Bellipanni’s 1,840 (42%), while Robbie Roberts has 666, according to unofficial and uncertified results that don’t include affidavit ballots, which aren’t enough to affect the outcome.
The runoff will be held Aug. 29.
The nominee faces Democrat Ray Reynolds in November’s general election for sheriff.
The Democratic primary contest for District 1 supervisor also is headed to a runoff between incumbent Tazwell Bowsky and challenger Justin Lofton. Bowsky has 406 (43%) votes to Lofton’s 358 (38%), while Devante Johnson had 175. There are no other challengers, so the winner of the runoff will win the seat outright.
District 3 Supervisor Robert J. Accardo had 683 votes (56%) to challenger Dwain Brister’s 541 (44%) in the Republican primary and faces no other opposition to claim a second term.
Brenda 'Denise' Robinson led Johnny Scott in the Democratic primary for circuit clerk with 2,136 (54%) votes to 1,787 (46%). The nominee faces Republican Natalie McMahon in the November general election.
And David Rashad Taylor has won the nomination over Keyon Daniels in the Democratic primary for coroner, 2,350 (60%) to 1,567 (40%). In the Republican primary for coroner, Chan Thomas is the nominee over Anthony 'Tony V' Varaksa with 3,064 (71%) to 1,258 (29%).
Angela Gardner Washington defeated Sherry Ellzey Matthews in the Democratic primary for Tax Collector, 2,139 (54%) to1,803 (46%). In the Republican primary, Michael Cameron is the nominee after receiving 2,729 (63%) votes to Cathy Hodge’s 1,564 (36%).
