A Summit man died in a shooting in Baertown early Sunday morning, and a Gloster man was wounded in a separate shooting hours later.
Shawn Williams, 22, was fatally shot around 1:30 a.m. on C.C. Bryant Street near Holmes Avenue.
He was pronounced dead at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center
"I got the call about 1:52 a.m. from SMRMC that he was brought in unresponsive into the ER and was pronounced dead on the scene," Pike County Coroner Wally Jones said. "He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning in Pearl."
Another shooting took place in McComb around 6 a.m. on Delaware Avenue near the Sonic Drive-In, according to McComb Police Chief Juan Cloy. Towaski Jones, 42, of Gloster, was shot once in the arm.
Cloy said the wound was not life-threatening. Police are unsure if the two shootings are related.
No suspects had been identified as of Sunday night.
