A second man has been arrested on child pornography charges following raids at a funeral home and a Pike County residence this week, sheriff’s officials said Friday morning.
Jacob Alan Golmon, 33, of Smithdale, was booked into the Pike County Jail on charges of possession of child pornography and a bench warrant on public display of sexually oriented materials.
No bond had been as of Friday morning.
Golmon’s arrest comes after sheriff’s officials executed a search warrant at his former employer, Catchings Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, on Wednesday, the same day they raided the home of another man, Garrett Szopinski, 32, of Summit.
Szopinski is being held without bond on charges of distributing child pornography.
Golmon was working as a funeral director at Catchings Sharkey as recently as late August, but his name had been removed from the online staff directory as of Thursday morning. he wasn’t at the business when authorities searched it on Wednesday, and sheriff’s officials issued a bulletin seeking information on his whereabouts Thursday.
Sheriff’s officials haven’t said if the cases were related, and if so, how, but they said additional arrests may be expected.
A funeral home employee said Thursday that Szopinski had never worked there.
Sheriff’s officials want anyone with information regarding the alleged crimes to call them at (601) 783-6767 or Crime Stoppers at (601) 869-7141, noting all tips will remain anonymous.
