A Louisiana man allegedly fired shots at officers before he was taken into custody on multiple charges following a high-speed chase Thursday morning in Lincoln County.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Cpl. Craig James said a trooper attempted to stop a speeding Toyota Camry driven by Kentrell Brumfield, 34, of Farmerville, La., just south of Bogue Chitto at 8:12 a.m.
Brumfield allegedly fled the trooper until another highway patrolman burst the Camry’s tires with spike strips.
His car disabled, Brumfield drove into Brookhaven, where he lost control of the car, crashed into a raised concrete curb and fired at officers, James said.
Brumfield was booked into the Lincoln County Jail on two counts of attempted murder, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, felony fleeing, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and speeding.
No injuries were reported in this incident, and criminal charges are also pending from the Brookhaven Police Department, James said.
