Southern Miss fires head football coach Will Hall per ESPN sources

According to ESPN's Pete Thamel and other sources, Southern Mississippi has fired head football coach Will Hall effective immediately.

Hall's Golden Eagles had gotten out to a 1-6 start to the season, with their lone win coming over FCS foe Southeast Louisiana. Hall's tenure in Hattiesburg peaked with a 7-6 campaign in 2022, but through four years as coach, he only managed to compile a 14-30 overall record.

Hall will be owed $860,000 per his contract.

Assistant coach Reed Stringer is set to take over as the interim head coach.
