McComb’s city board rejected a resolution to elevate deputy clerk to the vacant city clerk position at Tuesday night’s board meeting in city hall.
In a 4-2 vote, the board voted down a motion to name Deputy Clerk Brenda Gaines as the new city clerk.
Gaines has been with the city for three years.
