Mayor says area needs sewage

Mayor Quordiniah Lockley told the city board Thursday night it was time the city provide sewer service to an area the city annexed several years ago.
That annexed area is in Ward 1, bounded by Perrott, Caston and Schmidt roads.

Contributions key to continue scholarships

An officials who oversees scholarship endowments for Southwest Mississippi Community College told McComb Lions Club members how important their contributions are Tuesday.
Leanne Andrews, who has been the SMCC Foundation director since July 1, reminded the club that the Lions fund two scholarships.

City crime dips in 2024 in McComb

Homicides in McComb were down, but police responded to more shootings in 2024 compared to the year before, according to crime statistics McComb Police Chief Juan Cloy delivered to the city board
last week.
The data show there were four homicides reported in the city in 2024, compared to six in 2023.

Board delays making bond payment

McComb’s city board voted Tuesday to delay repaying a loan installment at the risk of being hit with penalties, saying they had unanswered questions about the payment.
The failed measure was an addendum to the agenda that involved payments for the a general obligation bond issued in 2019.
