Recent shootings worry Magnolia officials

Magnolia officials expressed frustration and concerns over public safety Tuesday following two recent shootings at a local bar, saying the unlicensed establishment needs to close.
At Tuesday’s board meeting, Police Chief Sonya Woodall discussed the shootings at the bar that took place April 22 and again last Friday.

Heritage Days fun returns to Liberty this week

American Idol winner Laine Hardy will perform at the annual Heritage Days festival in Liberty, which will be held this Friday and Saturday, along with music from local artists, with plenty of food vendors and fun activities for kids.
The festivities begin Friday with The Family Singers taking the stage at 5 p.m. at town hall.

The remains of a U.S. Army soldier who died as a prisoner of war during the Korean War were returned to McComb on Tuesday afternoon and will be laid to rest with full military honors Saturday, more than 70 years after his death.
