Ballots shaping up in municipal elections

Friday was the qualifying deadline. Party primaries are April 1, with runoffs, if needed, on April 22. The general election is June 3.

Self-inflicted death investigated

Officials responded to a reported suicide on Park Drive Extension on Tuesday afternoon.
Sheriff Wally Jones said neighbors and the victim’s family discovered his body in a wooded area off Park Drive Extension south of Highway 24. He said the victim was a Baton Rouge man in his 40s.

Attempted murder trial set for today

A man indicted for a January 2024 shooting in McComb that injured a woman is set to go on trial Wednesday in Pike County Circuit Court.
Kimmel Johnson, 32, of McComb faces charges of attempted murder, shooting into a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
