Silence arrested in La.

A former Pike County law enforcement official, airport board member and teacher has been arrested in Louisiana for allegedly impersonating a police officer.
The arrest Monday of Edwin Silence, 52, came amid a stalking investigation, officials with the sheriff's department in Lafayette Parish, La., said in a news release.

Two hurt in Highway 24 wreck

Two people were airlifted following a wreck on Highway 24 in Pike County on Thursday morning.
Julie Bowlin Garrigues, an Amite County teacher, and an unidentified 55-year-old McComb man were both seriously hurt when their vehicles collided near Irene Road around 7:30 a.m., Mississippi Highway Patrol officials said.
