Harrell winner by default in Osyka mayor’s race

Osyka has dispensed of its June 3 municipal election now that the mayor’s race is no longer challenged.
Mayor Allen Applewhite withdrew from the election, leaving former mayor Jamie W. Harrell unopposed in his bid to return to town hall.

Absentee voting for town elections underway

Absentee voting is underway for the June 3 municipal elections.
In addition to regular business hours, town halls will be open from 8 a.m. to noon the next two Saturdays for absentee voting, which ends noon Saturday, May 29.
All mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday, June 3.

Relatives accused of helping suspected shooter leave town, hiding gun

McComb principal removed from job

Reginald Lumpkin, who was about to finish his first year as McComb High School principal, has been removed from the job and is no longer an employee of the McComb School District.
Information confirmed by three people familiar with the situation said a high school employee recently reported questionable behavior by Lumpkin.
