The Mississippi Oil and Gas board needs help from landowners with “orphaned” oil wells on their property to create an updated inventory of idled wells.
Oil and Gas Board officials are taking part in a national initiative to help assure proper capping and closing of orphaned wells, which are wells whose operator is unknown or insolvent.
