Trio holds toy drive on Christmas Eve at The Patio

It wasn’t the biggest toy drive in the area, or the most elaborate, but three local men decided to hand out presents on Christmas Eve at The Patio in Magnolia to help parents fill in some last-minute gaps for gift giving and ensure kids had a new toy to play with.

Girl grazed in accidental shooting

A 14-year-old girl was wounded in an accidental shooting Tuesday afternoon, but her injuries are not considered life-threatening, authorities said.
Sheriff Wally Jones said the teenager was wounded at a residence on River Road North early Tuesday afternoon when a bullet from a .45-caliber long Colt handgun grazed her head.

La. man killed in hunting accident

A Louisiana man has died in Franklin County in a hunting accident.
According to Franklin County Coroner Billy Gill, Jerome Ducote, 73, of Louisiana died on Dec. 16 due to an equipment failure of his tree stand. This occurred in southwest Franklin County in the Bunkley area.
