NJ fines BetMGM $25K for bets on prohibited basketball games

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — BetMGM took less than $100 worth of bets last year on New Jersey college basketball games that weren’t supposed to be wagered on. Now, it will pay a $25,000 fine.

States report heavy betting on this year's Super Bowl

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Legal betting on this year's Super Bowl was heavy in the five states that had reported results as of Tuesday.

Nevada saw nearly $180 million in bets, New Jersey saw nearly $144 million; Illinois saw $60.5 million; Mississippi saw nearly $6.4 million, and Montana saw nearly $700,000.

31M Americans to bet on Super Bowl, gambling group estimates

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — A record 31.5 million Americans plan to bet on this year's Super Bowl, according to estimates released Tuesday by the gambling industry's national trade group.

The American Gaming Association forecasts that over $7.6 billion will be wagered on pro football's championship game set for Sunday.
