Five city hall employees test positive for virus

Mayor Quordiniah Lockley reported Monday afternoon he was aware of five McComb city hall employees who have tested positive for COVID in recent days and, as a result of the outbreak, the building will be closed until 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Amite school board re-elects officers, gets recognition

All three officers for the Amite County School District board were unanimously reelected for at Thursday night’s meeting.
James Copeland is the board president for the third consecutive year, Monica Johnson is once again the vice president and Cindy Newman will remain the secretary. The board holds elections for officers each January.

‘A great tribute to a great man:’ City names street after Randy Tate

Former Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Mississippi executive director Randy Tate was honored on what would have been his 64th birthday Thursday with a dedication ceremony to officially rename the street the club is located to Randy Tate Lane.
Tate, who was the club’s founding director, died Nov. 30.
